Digging Ditches

Turn in your Bibles with me to 2 Kings, chapter 3. (Don’t you just love to hear the thumbing of smartphone screens?) In this chapter we find that the armies of three nations – Israel, Judah, and Edom – have joined forces to fight Moab. As these armies traveled through the wilderness of Edom to get to the fight they faced a severe problem, there was no water to be found in the wilderness.

Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, turned to Elisha the Prophet to inquire of the Lord and, in 2 Kings 3:16-17, Elisha says,

‘Make this valley full of ditches.’ For thus says the Lord: ‘You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink.’

His answer was for them to dig ditches! The Lord was going to bring resources from an uncommon source, we would call it a flash flood, and they had to dig ditches to be ready to capture the provision the Lord was sending. We feel like we’re in a season of digging ditches. The Lord is sending resources from uncommon places and we need to be ready to receive those resources. When they come, they’re going to come like a flood and we’ll have trouble capturing them all!

We’re believing that part of this flood will start on Friday, February 22nd, when our interview with Refuge Radio will be broadcasted at 4:30PM on KWVE 107.9 in Southern California! We’ll be posting the broadcast here on our blog and sending out email links before it airs, but please join us in covering this time in prayer!
